Queen Sonja to Tour Oslo's National Archive and View Public Tributes to King Harald

Queen Sonja will visit the National Archive in Oslo on Monday, where she will see the collected messages left at the palace after King Harald’s death.

On Monday, Queen Sonja is scheduled to visit the National Archive in Oslo, according to a royal press release. The archive has safeguarded a range of drawings and messages that were laid out on the palace grounds following King Harald’s death, intending to keep them for posterity. During the visit, the queen will be presented with a curated sample of these public expressions of grief, marking her initial official duty after the period of mourning.

Inga Bolstad, head of the archive, highlighted the unique insight the tributes offer into the king’s significance for the Norwegian people. Culture and Equality Minister Lubna Jaffery will join the queen at the archive. The collected items have been frozen, catalogued and will be stored in the archive’s secure mountain facility, with many also digitised for future access.
