Ram Janmabhoomi Trust appoints three trustees and promotes new general secretary

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust added three trustees and elevated Swami Govind Dev Giri to general secretary, naming Mahesh Bhagchandka as treasurer.

The governing board of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust filled all vacant seats at a session in Ayodhya, bringing in three new trustees: businessman Mahesh Bhagchandka, veteran advocate Madan Mohan Pandey and former college principal Dr Nirmala Yadav. Swami Govind Dev Giri, who had acted as treasurer since the trust’s formation in 2020, was elevated to general secretary following the exit of Champat Rai, while Bhagchandka assumed the treasurer position.

Bhagchandka, 68, also heads the Ashok Singhal Foundation and participated in the temple’s key ceremonies. Pandey, a longtime legal representative in the Ram Janmabhoomi case, adds litigation expertise, and Yadav contributes an academic background. The reconstituted board, together with president Mahant Nritya Gopal Das and other senior members, is expected to streamline temple management and define the authority of the soon-to-be-named chief executive officer.

Why it matters

The leadership overhaul readies the trust for expanded temple operations and the appointment of its first CEO.
