Ramzan Kadyrov Secures Near-Unanimous Re-election in Chechnya with 99.85% Vote
Incumbent Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov was re-elected with 99.85% of the vote, according to the Central Election Commission.
Official results released by the Central Election Commission show Ramzan Kadyrov winning 99.85% of the vote in Chechnya's latest election for the republic's head. His opponents, Ismail Denilkhanov, chair of Chechnya’s Public Chamber and a Just Russia candidate, and Khalid Nakaev of the Communist Party, each obtained 0.05%. The commission also noted that incumbents are ahead in seven additional gubernatorial contests, with vote shares ranging from the mid-70s to over 90% in regions such as Mordovia, Tuva, Belgorod, Bryansk, Tver, Penza and Ulyanovsk.
