Reliance says it welcomes Starlink competition and stresses adherence to Indian law
Reliance Industries responded to Elon Musk's criticism of Starlink's Indian launch, saying it does not fear competition and that all firms must follow Indian regulations.
Elon Musk recently accused Indian authorities of blocking Starlink’s spectrum access, prompting a public exchange with the government. In response, Reliance Industries released a statement emphasizing that it has never feared competition and that all players, including Starlink, must comply with Indian laws and policies. The firm pointed out that the government applies the same licensing process to every applicant, domestic or foreign, and that Jio’s satellite services are also pending approval.
Reliance cited its own rapid rise since entering the telecom market in 2016, now serving over 530 million customers with affordable data. The company said it welcomes competition in satellite communications as a test of service quality. It concluded that any operator must serve the Indian people while respecting the nation’s regulations.
