Rescue teams hunt for woman swept into stream during Catalonia floods

Emergency crews are searching Saturday night for a woman who is believed to have fallen into a stream in Cabrera de Mar amid severe rainstorms across Catalonia.

A coordinated operation involving six fire-fighter crews, the Mossos d'Esquadra and Maritime Rescue is underway to find a woman who is thought to have been swept into a stream in Cabrera de Mar during Saturday night’s intense rainstorm. The emergency alert was received in the early evening, and the search continues amid reports of similar flooding elsewhere in Catalonia. In Sentmenat, two senior citizens were rescued after their vehicle became inundated.

Rainfall measurements show extreme totals in the Maresme and Vallès Oriental, with several towns recording over 60 liters per square metre in short periods. Local authorities have warned residents to limit travel as the heaviest showers are expected to shift toward the Barcelona metropolitan area later tonight. Civil protection agencies have urged heightened caution throughout the affected zones.
