Rockies move Hunter Goodman to IL and bring up Braxton Fulford
Colorado placed catcher Hunter Goodman on the 10-day injured list with a left shoulder strain and recalled infielder Braxton Fulford from Triple-A Albuquerque.
After sitting out the entire San Francisco series and the first game of the Los Angeles matchup, the Colorado Rockies designated catcher Hunter Goodman for the 10-day injured list due to a left shoulder strain, effective August 15. Goodman, a two-time All-Star, entered the season with a.251/.320/.541 slash line, 34 home runs and 69 RBIs, and had appeared in three of the last four games before being scratched each time.
Brett Sullivan stepped in during the road stretch, hitting.316 with three homers and eight RBIs. Concurrently, the club recalled infielder Braxton Fulford from Triple-A Albuquerque; he holds a.177/.254/.290 line in the majors but is batting.270/.399/.484 with five homers in the Pacific Coast League. Fulford’s strong minor-league performance has not yet translated fully to the big league, prompting the roster move. The transactions aim to keep the Rockies’ offense productive while Goodman recovers.
Why it matters
The Rockies adjust their roster to replace an injured key hitter and add depth, affecting the team's competitive outlook.
