Romanian radar spots aerial target near Galați, F-16s scrambled
Romanian air defence radar detected an aircraft 20 km east of Galaţi, prompting two F-16 fighters to take off and a short-lived alert for nearby counties.
The Ministry of Defence’s radar system identified an aerial object 20 km east of Galaţi on Friday morning. Two F-16 jets from the Air Force’s 86th Borcea Base were launched that night. The National Military Command Centre warned the emergency agency, which issued a RO-Alert for eastern Galaţi and northern Tulcea. The alert was lifted less than an hour later, and no breach of national airspace was reported.
