Russian missile barrage knocks out power for 600,000 Ukrainians, breaches Trump ceasefire claim

A large-scale Russian missile attack on Ukrainian energy facilities left about 600,000 people without electricity and violated a cease-fire pledge announced by Donald Trump, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Russian ballistic missiles struck power infrastructure in Kyiv, its outskirts and the Kharkiv region, cutting electricity for roughly 600,000 residents. He said the attack deliberately ignored a cease-fire on energy sites that Donald Trump had announced. Russia’s defence ministry claimed the strike used high-precision weapons against targets of military value and reported downing 902 Ukrainian drones, including 180 near Moscow. Moscow’s mayor confirmed the large drone assault, which also disrupted flights at Vnukovo Airport for more than eight hours.
