Schoolmate mourns loss of Captain Zainol Afiq after Sarawak helicopter crash

A medical-relief helicopter went down near Long Lellang in Sarawak, resulting in five fatalities: four medical staff and Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham, a 30-year-old officer. The news reached Dr Muhammad Fauzan Baharum, a former schoolmate, via their alumni WhatsApp group, prompting an emotional response as he recalled Zainol Afiq's generosity and kindness. The two had remained in contact, meeting when both returned to Senawang, and had last seen each other at a school alumni football match.
Zainol Afiq's uncle, Hashim Mohd Harun, described him as a responsible family man. The funeral took place at Forest Heights Islamic Cemetery after prayers at Bandar Baru Senawang Mosque, led by his father Bee Sham Ahmad and attended by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan.
