Schumer Declares Intent to Seek Another Term as Senate Democratic Leader

Chuck Schumer, who has led the Senate Democrats for a decade, announced he intends to pursue another term as the party's leader. Some members of the Democratic caucus have urged him to step aside for younger talent, but Schumer rejected those suggestions. If Democrats gain seats or retain the majority in the upcoming midterm elections, the caucus is expected to re-elect him in a closed-door vote the week after Election Day.
