Seven killed and four injured in gun attack on bus near Masyaf Bridge

A gunmen opened fire on a small passenger bus near the Masyaf Bridge in Homs province, killing seven and wounding four.

Late Wednesday, attackers opened fire on a small passenger bus near the Masyaf Bridge in the western Syrian province of Homs, killing seven people and wounding four others. The victims were employees traveling home after their shift, according to officials. State-run SANA reported that the motive was not immediately known and no organization has claimed responsibility.

First responders rushed the injured to hospitals in and around Homs, while investigators documented blood stains and broken glass inside the bus. Homs Internal Security Forces Commander Bassem Mohammad Shaaban described the assault as a cowardly effort to undermine security in the governorate. The incident adds to the series of violent episodes that have persisted in Syria following more than a decade of conflict.
