Severe thunderstorms trigger flood alerts and transport disruptions across Valencia

Intense thunderstorms swept Valencia and surrounding municipalities late in the evening, delivering rainfall totals of 85 L/m² in Eliana, 76.2 L/m² in Torrent and 73.6 L/m² in Chiva, according to the Associació Valenciana de Meteorologia. The Generalitat's emergency coordination centre declared a Situation 1 and a yellow pre-emergency level for the Carraixet-Calderona hydrological zone, and dispatched an Es-Alert at 22:08 citing generalized rain and flood risk.

Residents were instructed to remain vigilant, avoid travel, keep clear of streams and ravines, respect traffic diversions, and seek higher ground in homes if water levels increase. The Valencian government urged municipalities within the basin to activate their municipal flood-action plans and intensify surveillance of critical channels. So far, no major incidents have been reported, though some metro lines were halted and a LaLiga match between Levante and one outlet Bilbao was suspended.
