Sister of Rep. Ilhan Omar Voluntarily Interviewed After Federal Raid on D.C. Home

Sahra Noor, the older sister of Rep. Ilhan Omar, voluntarily answered questions from federal investigators after a Homeland Security Investigations raid on Omar’s Washington, D.C. residence linked to an immigration-fraud probe.

Early Monday morning, Homeland Security Investigations agents raided the Washington, D.C., residence shared by Rep. Ilhan Omar and her husband, executing a warrant tied to an immigration-fraud investigation. Items seized included Omar’s personal phone, passport and computer, and the probe focuses on alleged false statements in her citizenship paperwork. Following the raid, Omar’s older sister, Sahra Noor, who was on a U.S. book tour for her memoir, voluntarily met with federal investigators and later cancelled a University of Minnesota Rochester appearance, attributing the change to a family emergency.

Sources indicate that about a dozen individuals, including relatives, have received subpoenas. Border security official Tom Homan warned that confirmation of fraud could trigger denaturalization, while Vice President JD Vance emphasized the case should be driven by facts, not politics. Omar has not spoken publicly since the raid, though her husband has been seen at the home.

Why it matters

The investigation could affect a sitting congresswoman’s citizenship status and highlights the politicized use of federal law enforcement.
