Stepdaughter vows justice as stepfather faces court for stabbing nurse
Nik Ruziany Nik Ahmad Ruzi attended the Kota Baru Sessions Court to hear the case against her 44-year-old stepfather, who is charged with stabbing his wife, a nurse, and injuring his mother-in-law.
Nik Ruziany Nik Ahmad Ruzi, 19, appeared at the Sessions Court in Kota Baru alongside other family members to follow the proceedings against her stepfather, Shahrul Shahrizal Che Shaari, 44. He faces charges of stabbing his wife, a nurse, six times and wounding his mother-in-law during an incident in Padang Lepai, Ketereh. The stepdaughter said the family feels threatened and will only feel safe once a sentence matching the violence is handed down.
Although the court ordered his transfer to Hospital Bahagia in Perak for mental treatment, she doubts his mental illness. Shahrul pleaded not guilty before judges Zulkifli Ablah and Nik Habri Muhamad. The injured nurse is being treated at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital, where she remains in serious condition.
