Storm Adam brings severe floods and deaths to Valencia and Alicante as warnings stay in effect

Heavy rain from the Dana Adam system has caused widespread flooding in the Valencia and Alicante provinces, prompting orange alerts from Aemet after the red warning was downgraded to yellow. Emergency crews, including the Guardia Civil, the Unidad Militar de Emergencias and fire services, have been conducting rescue operations, evacuating residents from rooftops and high points and using helicopters, boats and ground teams.

Several deaths have been reported, and shelters have been opened for evacuees while school sessions were suspended in multiple municipalities. The storm is now expected to move toward Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.
