Strong winds and heavy rain bring a cool spell across Hungary on Thursday
Thursday will start with widespread cloud cover and rain, followed by gusty winds up to 90 km/h in parts of western and central Hungary, before temperatures drop into the low teens.
According to the latest HungaroMet outlook, Thursday will open with extensive cloudiness and intermittent rain or showers nationwide. The rain zone will gradually shift northeast during the morning, delivering significant rainfall in the eastern and southeastern regions. After the precipitation eases, partly cloudy conditions are expected, while western skies clear later in the day.
Winds from the north-west and north will strengthen, becoming stormy in the North-Dunántúl, the Balaton area and Budapest, with gusts of 70-75 km/h and occasional bursts of 85-90 km/h in the higher parts of the Transdanubian Mid-Mountains. The strongest winds are forecast for the late afternoon. Daytime highs will generally range from 12 to 18 °C, though eastern and southeastern locales may reach peak temperatures earlier. Nighttime temperatures will dip to between 5 and 12 °C, and some spots in the Transdanubian and Northern Central Mountain regions could see more than 20 mm of rain by evening.
