Students allegedly plan Charlie Kirk look-alike contest on assassination anniversary

A screenshot of an anonymous Yik Yak post circulating on social media invites students to a "Charlie Kirk look-alike contest" on Greene Street outside the University of South Carolina’s Russell House at 7 p.m. on Sept. 10, the anniversary of the activist’s death. The post promises a $50 prize and uses the phrase "Be there or be square." Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was assassinated while speaking at Utah Valley University in 2025.

The university responded that it has no record of any registered student organization planning the event and that no campus resources will be used. The same concept allegedly surfaced on the anonymous platform Fizz at Georgetown University, where the campus Turning Point USA chapter’s announcement received over 2,200 upvotes from a student body of about 6,000. Libs of TikTok highlighted the USC post, labeling it as a celebration of the killing, though the original Yik Yak message does not explicitly state that intent. No comment was obtained from the University of South Carolina at the time of reporting.
