Swiss Ebola patient repatriated to Geneva hospital

A Swiss woman who tested positive for Ebola while in Nigeria was flown back to Switzerland on a Rega ambulance jet that landed in Zurich and was then transferred to the University Hospital in Geneva, where she is being treated in a dedicated high‑containment unit. Her husband, who travelled with her, is being held in isolation at the University Hospital Zurich. Several dozen contacts have been identified and are under observation.

Swiss health officials have confirmed the patient is being cared for by specially trained staff in the national treatment centres. An expert team is being dispatched to Nigeria to investigate how the Bundibugyo strain entered the country.
