Teknofest Southeast finale blends robotics, aviation and Şanlıurfa heritage
The southeastern edition of Turkey’s Teknofest wrapped up in Şanlıurfa, showcasing domestic defense hardware, humanoid robots and a rapid Göbeklitepe experience.
The first Teknofest event held in Turkey’s southeast ended on Sunday following a five-day program at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport. From Sept. 30 to Oct. 4, the fair attracted thousands of visitors who explored products from Turkish Aerospace Industries, Roketsan, STM, Baykar, OYAK and other defense companies, including the Kızılelma unmanned fighter, Kaan combat aircraft and Akıncı drone. A highlight was a troupe of humanoid robots performing the traditional halay dance, illustrating the festival’s tech-culture synergy.
An immersive Göbeklitepe Experience Area let guests travel across roughly twelve millennia in three minutes, linking ancient heritage with future technology. Selçuk Bayraktar opened the event, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan praised Şanlıurfa’s historic scientific contributions, and Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz attended the closing ceremony.
