Tuan Ibrahim questions why LPT extension was omitted from 2027 budget

Deputy President Tuan Ibrahim said the 2027 budget ignored the promised LPT highway extension, urging focus on major public issues.

In Parliament, Deputy President Tuan Ibrahim highlighted that the 2027 budget failed to include funding for the long-promised LPT highway extension, a project he says should be a priority for the public. He noted that while many items were covered, the omission of this infrastructure plan was striking. Ibrahim also questioned the clarity of regional development allocations, suggesting they remain vague.

He pointed out that climate-change initiatives received insufficient emphasis. Additionally, he urged an upgrade of flood-control designs from a 50-year to a 100-year standard, warning that one outlet funding would be inadequate for effective protection.

Why it matters

The budget's exclusion of a key highway project raises concerns about infrastructure priorities and regional equity.
