Turkey detains 45 in investment fund probe, seizes assets of suspects and relatives

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek reported that 45 individuals have been remanded in connection with a sweeping investigation into investment funds in Turkey. The operation, which involves 76 suspects overall, has resulted in five people being placed under judicial supervision, 14 remaining in police custody, and ongoing efforts to locate 12 others. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office money-laundering investigations bureau is directing the case, with assistance from the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) and the Istanbul police financial crimes unit.
Authorities have seized the assets of fund owners and executives named in the probe, and have also frozen the holdings of their immediate family members. Gürlek emphasized that the measures are intended to stop asset concealment and safeguard investors’ rights, stressing that no one is exempt from the law regardless of status or connections. Investigators continue to follow the evidence to determine responsibility and ensure accountability.
