Two women wounded in separate shootings near Brooklyn's West Indian Day Parade route

Law-enforcement sources reported that two women suffered leg injuries in distinct shootings on Monday afternoon in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, near the West Indian Day Parade route. The first attack happened around 4 p.m. at 798 Nostrand Avenue, and a witness heard gunfire after a fight broke out on the block. Police took a suspect into custody at that location.

Shortly after, a second woman was shot in the leg at the intersection of Eastern Parkway and Kingston Avenue; investigators are still searching for the shooter.
