Uber and Wayve launch London’s first supervised robotaxi service

On September 3, Uber and UK‑based Wayve launched a robotaxi service in London that uses Wayve’s AV2.0 artificial‑intelligence platform. The initial fleet consists of Ford Mustang Mach‑E vehicles, with Nissan Leaf models planned for later addition, and each car carries a human safety driver licensed by Transport for London who monitors the system. Uber will maintain and service the fleet in partnership with UK operator Otto Car, while Wayve remains responsible for the self‑driving software. The launch makes London and Zagreb the only European cities with supervised autonomous taxis.
