Eleven significant fires and 43 fresh wildfires have erupted in the UK within the last 48 hours, overwhelming fire services, according to Phil Garrigan of the National Fire Chief's Council. Major incidents were declared in the West Midlands, Hampshire and South Wales, with Stourbridge alone seeing 38 houses damaged or destroyed and hotspots still smoldering.
