Ukrainian engineers convert old BTR-60PB into suicide drone to breach Russian defenses

Ukrainian engineers have retrofitted a vintage BTR-60PB armored carrier with a remote-control system and onboard cameras, converting it into a ground-based suicide drone. The modified vehicle was first used in combat at the village of Nov, located on the Lyman front in the Donetsk region, where it helped Ukrainian forces breach Russian fortifications. The operation formed part of the third phase of the Vivaldi offensive, led by the 3rd Army Corps, which has also reclaimed nearby villages such as Ridkodub, Katerynivka, Karpivka and Novomykhailivka.

Commander Andrii Biletskyi shared footage on social media showing the drone demolishing the enemy's strongest defensive positions. Intelligence aircraft tracked the drone’s path and adjusted its route as needed. Ukraine is reportedly pursuing additional projects to develop unmanned, armored transport vehicles for future operations.
