Ukrainian unit uses home-grown drone to airlift two wounded soldiers

Ukraine's 475th Separate Assault Regiment evacuated two seriously injured soldiers with the domestically built StarGate drone.

Ukraine's 475th Separate Assault Regiment carried out two aerial rescues of severely wounded troops using the StarGate drone, a system created by the Ukrainian firm SkyFall. The soldiers were stranded about five kilometres from the Russian frontier in an area where ground evacuation was blocked by difficult terrain, water barriers and hostile Russian FPV drones. Coordination involved multiple units, and Vampire attack drones suppressed enemy positions during the missions.

In one sortie, the drone traveled nearly 30 kilometres to reach a casualty and returned the same distance with the soldier aboard. The operations took place over the course of a week and demonstrated the regiment's ability to integrate indigenous technology into combat logistics.

Why it matters

It shows Ukraine's growing capability to use domestically produced drones for battlefield medical evacuations.
