Umno chief Zahid urges the prime minister to heed public concerns

At the Umno General Assembly held in Kuala Lumpur, party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi launched a sharp rebuke of the prime minister, accusing him of disregarding the populace's complaints. Zahid repeatedly addressed the leader as "Guru," a nickname that resurfaced from a leaked 2021 telephone conversation where he used the same term for the prime minister. He urged an immediate halt to what he described as a detrimental approach to the country's development, emphasizing that he does not seek to stir unrest but wants to prevent anxiety and confusion among citizens.

While Zahid did not name the prime minister, analysts identified him as Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The speech highlighted internal tensions within the ruling coalition ahead of upcoming policy debates.
