Umno leaders order free flights for low-income students traveling between Borneo and the peninsula

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi instructed several state leaders and the Higher Education Minister to arrange complimentary air tickets for B40 students from Sabah and Sarawak studying on the peninsula.

Zahid directed the Higher Education Minister, Zambry Abdul Kadir, to ask universities to provide free flights for B40 students from Sabah and Sarawak enrolled in Peninsular Malaysia institutions. He also ordered the chief ministers of Johor, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak and Melaka to supply similar tickets for students from their states studying in Sabah and Sarawak. The announcement was made during Zahid's closing speech at the 2026 Umno General Assembly, highlighting the party's focus on supporting disadvantaged families.
