UMNO official rejects DAP claim of RM2.1 billion overspend by KKDW

Senior UMNO work committee member Razlan Rafii rejected DAP’s Lim claim that KKDW overspent by RM2.1 billion, saying the phrase has no factual basis. He questioned whether Lim derived the figure from any Treasury statement and asked Treasury Secretary Johan Mahmood Merican to clarify the matter. Rafii also labeled Lim’s remarks as malicious and politically driven, aimed at tarnishing UMNO president Zahid Hamidi ahead of the Melaka state election.
Earlier, Zahid expressed frustration over delayed payments to contractors working on ministry projects. Johan later acknowledged that the ministry’s rural-road budget has consistently been spent beyond the approved limits, citing RM1.8 billion in 2023 versus a RM1.1 billion allocation, and higher amounts for 2024 and 2025. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has ordered both ministries to discuss the issue and reach a resolution.
