Undetected migrant dinghy reaches Kent shore, authorities intervene after tip

A migrant dinghy with an estimated ten people reached the coastal reserve at The Warren, close to Folkestone, after a local skipper reported it to one outlet producer who then called the Coastguard. By the time the producer arrived, most of the occupants had run away, but he persuaded three to stay until police arrived a few minutes later. Authorities have confirmed that five of the migrants who made it ashore have been taken into custody by police and Border Force, while the fate of the remaining individuals is unclear.

This is the first undetected landing in over a year, the previous one occurring at Kingsdown beach near Dover in September 2025. Improved weather conditions this week are expected to increase the number of Channel crossings, with three additional dinghies already launched from French beaches and 68 migrants transferred to a Border Security Command vessel for processing at Dover harbour.
