United List emerges as largest party in Latvia's Saeima election, securing 42 seats

The United List won the parliamentary election, obtaining 42 of the 100 seats in the Saeima. It received about 35.8% of the vote, while the populist Latvia First party came second with roughly 13% and 17 seats. Turnout was 51.8%, around 800,000 voters. The National Alliance and New United both passed the 5% threshold and are expected to join coalition talks. The governing coalition is expected to maintain strong support for Ukraine and keep defence spending at 5% of GDP.
