UP chief electoral officer orders full audit of voter forms since April 10
Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa directed a comprehensive audit of all Form 6, 7 and 8 entries made by computer assistants after the Special Intensive Revision ended on April 10.
In a virtual session on Oct 24, Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa ordered an audit of every Form 6, 7 and 8 entered by computer assistants since the Special Intensive Revision concluded on April 10, aiming to prevent repeats of the Pilibhit and Azamgarh irregularities. The meeting included divisional commissioners, district election officers, electoral registration officers, assistant EROs and computer assistants, who were warned that any breach discovered could invoke Section 32 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950 against the responsible officials, with district officers also liable for inadequate supervision.
Participants were told to safeguard ERONET login details, stop computer assistants from processing physical applications, and require booth-level officers to digitise those applications through the BLO app while preserving the original papers. Daily reviews of pending forms, prompt disposal, and swift resolution of grievances from various channels were mandated. The draft electoral roll for the forthcoming Special Summary Revision, slated for publication on Nov 12, must be purged of duplicate entries, and officials were reminded to update contact details on ECINET and adhere to password policies.
