USR internal poll shows party ahead of PSD, reshaping Romanian election outlook

An internal survey commissioned by USR claims the party holds 16% voter intent, surpassing PSD, while projecting a USR-PNL alliance at 36% support.

USR released results of an internal poll it commissioned, indicating the party enjoys 16% voter intention, outpacing the Social Democratic Party. The poll also assigns 20% to the National Liberal Party, 30-32% to the Alliance for the Union of Romanians, and 10-12% to PSD. Senator Cristian Ghinea presented the data on the "Comunitatea liberală 1848" podcast, hosted by Matei Udrea.

The study suggests that a USR-PNL electoral alliance could gather about 36% of the electorate. These numbers differ markedly from the latest INSCOP poll, which places AUR at the top, followed by PSD and PNL, while USR and the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians fall lower in the rankings.

Why it matters

The poll could influence coalition talks and voter expectations ahead of Romania's next parliamentary election.
