Valencian Left Parties Unite Under 'Compromís-Front Valencià' Joint Ticket for General Election
The left-wing parties in the Valencian Community have agreed to run together on a Compromís-Front Valencià list for the upcoming general election.
A unified leftist ballot named Compromís-Front Valencià will contest the Spanish general election in the Comunitat Valenciana, bringing together Compromís, Podemos, Esquerra Republicana del País Valencià and Esquerra Unida. The agreement, ratified by EUPV’s national council with 66% support, gives Esquerra Unida the third position on the Valencia list and a promised Senate seat contingent on a pact with the PSOE. Candidate placements include Maria Teresa Pérez heading the Alicante list for Podemos, Àgueda Micó and Alberto Ibáñez leading the Valencia list for Compromís, and a female candidate for the third Valencia slot.
Gabriel Rufián will campaign in the region on behalf of ERPV. The coalition projects up to six deputies, its second-best result after the 2015-2016 elections.
Why it matters
The alliance may increase left-wing seats in Congress and shape upcoming local and regional elections.
