Vice President Duterte urges President Marcos to step down during Quezon City rally

During a gathering of supporters at Quezon City Hall, Vice President Sara Duterte demanded that President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. resign, accusing him of lying, abuse and lacking gratitude to the public. Her statements followed a postponed arraignment on grave-threat charges, which had been delayed after her camp filed a motion. Duterte linked the call for resignation to broader fights against corruption and addiction, and noted that the threat case forms one of four articles of impeachment before the Senate impeachment court.

She also mentioned having spoken to individuals about potential harm to Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and House speaker Martin Romualdez. Marcos is scheduled to travel to New Delhi for the 18th BRICS summit on September 12-13. No response from the presidential palace has been reported.
