Young Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli wins Spanish Grand Prix amid mixed feelings

At the Spanish Grand Prix, 20-year-old Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli took the checkered flag, marking his eighth career Formula 1 victory. A virtual safety-car deployment on lap 15 forced Antonelli and Max Verstappen into the pits, while pole-sitter Lando Norris missed the pit entry and dropped to third place. Antonelli described the win as a “good feeling” but not “sweet,” believing Norris deserved the top spot.

Verstappen, who finished second, said the safety-car timing disadvantaged him and praised Antonelli’s performance. George Russell rounded out the podium, and Lewis Hamilton remains ahead in the championship points tally.
