Zelensky outlines three cease-fire tracks in New York talks

Speaking to journalists in New York, Zelensky outlined three possible pathways to de-escalation. The first would be an energy cease-fire, with Ukraine refraining from targeting any side's power infrastructure. The second proposes a maritime cease-fire, primarily to safeguard grain shipments but also covering other commodities, a concept backed by Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and India.

The third avenue is a trilateral negotiation framework put forward by the United States, yet Zelensky noted no indication that President Putin favors such a meeting, though technical-level talks are under discussion. He stressed that Ukraine must simultaneously increase pressure on Russia through sanctions and strengthen its own defence, citing recent missile interceptions and ongoing efforts to acquire more interceptors. Zelensky also said President Trump reaffirmed his willingness to grant licenses for Ukraine to produce Patriot system missiles, though production will take time.
