Zelensky says energy ceasefire could signal Russia's willingness to end conflict
President Volodymyr Zelensky told host Alla Mazur that a halt to energy attacks would be an early sign of Russia’s readiness to conclude the war.
In an interview, Zelensky explained that an energy ceasefire could serve as the first step toward ending hostilities. He said Ukraine is prepared to enter trilateral talks at the technical working-group level, aiming for concrete outcomes such as a war-ending document, an energy ceasefire agreement, or the restart of maritime shipping. He also referenced a planned meeting of negotiating teams from Ukraine, the United States and Russia in early November.
Why it matters
An energy ceasefire could reduce civilian hardship and open a path to broader peace talks in the Ukraine war.
