Zelensky says Starlink speeds remain down as talks with US officials loom

President Volodymyr Zelenskyj reported that the Starlink satellite network is still operating below expected speed and that Ukraine is seeking a discussion with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio about the service.

Zelensky noted that the bandwidth of Starlink, which supports Ukrainian military communications and logistics, has not yet been fully restored. He said officials are actively addressing the problem. The president also expressed hope for a meeting with Marco Rubio in the coming days to discuss Starlink issues. Additionally, Zelensky mentioned his willingness to join peace talks at the G20 summit in Miami this December, though he has not received an invitation.

Why it matters

Reliable Starlink service is crucial for Ukraine's defense and coordination during the war.

How the sides frame it

RIGHT

Frames the story around the technical shortfall of Starlink bandwidth and the ongoing attempts by officials to resolve it.

The left emphasises

  • help Ukraine construct resilient satellite communication infrastructure
  • Zelensky wants to discuss Starlink speeds with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio
  • readiness to join peace negotiations linked to the upcoming G20 summit

The right emphasises
