Zetrix AI owes Road Transport Department over RM200 million, prompting calls for tighter oversight
Zetrix AI Bhd, formerly MyEG Sdn Bhd, has failed to remit more than RM200 million collected for the Road Transport Department since the start of its contract in May 2023.
Zetrix AI Bhd, previously known as MyEG Sdn Bhd, has accumulated arrears exceeding RM200 million after not remitting payments collected for the Road Transport Department (RTD) since May 2023. The company, which adopted its current name in July 2025, handles payments for road tax, driving licences and traffic summonses. Financial disclosures reveal a sharp rise in development expenditure to more than RM3.7 billion and significant debt obligations.
Despite these pressures, the firm ceased forwarding the collected fees, prompting RTD to direct drivers to its own and other approved payment channels. The episode raises questions about RTD’s financial controls, monitoring mechanisms and contractual enforcement, with officials urged to examine why existing safeguards failed and to implement stricter oversight for future public-fund collection contracts.
Why it matters
Unpaid public collections risk revenue shortfalls and highlight weaknesses in government contract oversight.
