Andersson signals readiness to lead coalition talks after meeting Speaker

Following a discussion with Speaker Andreas Norlén, Magdalena Andersson declared she is ready to assume responsibility for the election outcome and to pursue a wide-ranging coalition. She emphasized that she will wait for the official sonderingsuppdraget before starting talks with other parties, and she plans to reach out to six party leaders, excluding Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Åkesson. Andersson also confirmed she would speak with Moderate Party leader Ulf Kristersson if given the mandate.

The Left Party’s Nooshi Dadgostar voiced backing for Andersson as the next prime minister but stressed that her party must retain its own representation. Speaker Norlén will continue meeting party leaders throughout the day, with a press conference scheduled for the afternoon to announce who receives the government-forming assignment.
