Apple outlines ambitious lineup including touch-screen Macs and a new smart-home hub
Apple disclosed a roadmap that adds touch-screen MacBooks, a square smart-home display and dozens of updated iPads, iPhones and wearables through early 2027.
Apple’s upcoming product slate, described by CEO John Ternus as the company’s most ambitious ever, targets a broad refresh across its core devices. High-end MacBook Pros will debut with touch-screen OLED panels and be powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, while an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro will adopt the M6 processor. A new square smart-home hub, slated for an October debut, will run a dedicated OS, integrate Siri AI, and support videoconferencing and facial recognition.
The iPad lineup will see an OLED iPad mini, an OLED iPad Air, and an entry-level iPad with the Apple Intelligence platform. iPhone 18 models will shift to spring releases, with the standard 18 using the A20 chip and the budget 18e receiving the same chip but differentiated features. HomePod mini and Apple TV will be upgraded with a chip to power the enhanced Siri AI, and new Apple Pencil variants will accompany the refreshed iPads.
