Barcelona set to sell 19-year-old midfielder Tommy Marques to Braga for €10 million

Barcelona have reached an agreement with Braga to transfer academy graduate Tommy Marques for an initial €10 million, with possible add-on payments.

Barcelona have concluded a deal with Portuguese side Braga for the transfer of 19-year-old midfielder Tommy Marques, securing an upfront fee of €10 million. The contract also contains add-on provisions that could raise the total to €12 million. While the clubs have agreed on the fee, Marques must still negotiate personal terms with Braga, though no obstacles are anticipated.

Barcelona will keep a first-refusal option should Braga receive subsequent bids for the player. The transaction is part of a busy period for the Catalan giants, which also includes reports of a pending agreement with Manchester City for Rodri and the return of Joao Cancelo after terminating his contract with Al-Hilal.

Why it matters

The move shows Barcelona's strategy of monetising academy talent while maintaining future control over the player's career.
