Bersatu to join forces with a coalition for the upcoming GE16 election

At Bersatu's decade-long celebration in Petaling Jaya, president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin declared that the party will not contest the 16th General Election independently. He explained that any move will be rooted in the party's principles and strategic interests, and that advisers overwhelmingly recommend a coalition approach. Muhyiddin emphasized the need to partner with parties that honor Bersatu's historical struggle and value its contributions.

He outlined the party's key goals: building a prosperous, corruption-free nation, fostering a progressive democracy, and safeguarding the special status of Malays and Bumiputera, the sanctity of Islam, and the constitutional rights of all citizens. The coalition selection will therefore prioritize alignment of principles and aspirations with Bersatu's agenda.
