BJP MP accuses Gandhi and Kejriwal of fostering "competition of anarchy" amid CEC protests

BJP parliamentarian Bansuri Swaraj charged Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal with creating a "competition of anarchy" as protests over chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation sparked heavy police action in Delhi.

In Delhi, BJP parliamentarian Bansuri Swaraj labeled the actions of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal as a "competition of anarchy," asserting that voters had spurned both parties and their leaders were making excuses for electoral loss. Her comments coincided with protests organized by the Cockroach Janta Party demanding the resignation of chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, which prompted a large police deployment and the detention of several opposition leaders.

Gandhi accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah's Delhi Police of "thuggery" and alleged that RSS and BJP workers were permitted to assault women and young demonstrators. The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee lodged a police complaint against Kejriwal, asserting that AAP workers entered Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, displayed banners and slogans, and violated the site’s sanctity, though police say they only used a common walkway and did not step onto the main sanctum.

AAP officials, including MLA Bhagwant Mann, responded on social media, claiming the police presence was misrepresented. The episode highlights escalating tensions between the ruling BJP and opposition parties over electoral oversight and public protest rights.
