At the Commonwealth Games, Canadian boxer Scarlett Delgado captured a silver medal after a unanimous decision loss to India's Preeti Pawar in the women's 54kg final. Delgado had earned her place in the championship match by overcoming England's Lauren Mackie in the semifinal. On the same day, Ottawa's Lauren Gale placed seventh in the women's 400m with a time of 52.01 seconds.
Track cyclists Tyler Rorke and Cole Dempster were eliminated in the sprint rounds, while Jonathan Hinse progressed to the men's 10km scratch race final. Canadian judokas Laurence Brion, Charlie Thibault and Guillaume Gaulin all won their round-of-16 contests, and shot putter Maitlan Knoke recorded a personal best but missed the podium.
