Chelsea imposes Friday deadline for £120m bids on Enzo Fernandez

Chelsea has set a Friday 17:00 BST deadline for clubs to submit offers of at least £120m for midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

Chelsea announced that any club wishing to acquire Enzo Fernandez must submit a proposal of £120m or higher by 17:00 BST on Friday, seeking to resolve lingering uncertainty about his future. Fernandez, 25, indicated a desire to leave in March and his representative Javier Pastore said the player feels under-compensated after a challenging season that saw Chelsea finish 10th and lose the FA Cup final. While Real Madrid have publicly dismissed the move, Manchester City—now led by former Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca—are the only confirmed interested party, though their willingness to meet the valuation remains uncertain as they also target Lille’s Ayoub Bouaddi.

New head coach Xabi Alonso has discussed the situation with Fernandez and hinted the club is prepared to reintegrate him as a central figure. Fernandez returned to training this week, having contributed 15 goals and seven assists in 54 appearances and featuring in Argentina’s World Cup final loss to Spain. The deadline is intended to bring clarity before the upcoming campaign.

Why it matters

The decision will shape Chelsea's squad and could trigger a major £120m transfer in the football market.
