CJP leaders claim government shields election chief amid mass arrests
The Cockroach Janta Party accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of protecting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar after several activists were detained and later released on bail.
Three members of the Cockroach Janta Party—Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka—were taken into custody minutes after arriving at Delhi Airport, as they prepared to protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in a special intensive revision of electoral rolls. A Delhi court later released them on bail, stipulating they must not breach peace for one year. During their first press conference after release, CJP leader Saurav Das accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of protecting Kumar and suppressing peaceful dissent, calling for nationwide non-violent protests.
The party, together with student groups linked to left parties, announced additional protests in Delhi and a rally in Mumbai at 4 pm.
