Cleveland Police launch massive raids targeting gang and drug networks in Teesside

Cleveland Police conducted their largest crackdown to date, deploying more than 130 officers in a coordinated sweep of Teesside addresses linked to a gang and drug turf war associated with the A66 tragedy. The operation began shortly after 8 am, with a police convoy and road closures facilitating rapid movement through the area. Officers targeted at least five properties connected to organised crime groups, using specialised equipment such as an electric saw and a mini battering ram, and a drone to monitor the scene.

Six individuals were arrested early in the raid, and additional suspects were flagged for recall to prison or for failing to appear in court. Superintendent Daryll Tomlinson described the day as “relentless,” while Chief Constable Victoria Fuller praised the collective response and urged officers to reassure the public amid heightened concerns over gang violence in Grangetown and South Bank.
