Deadly Nepal-Tibet floods leave 392 dead and hundreds of Indians missing
The Nepal-Tibet flood disaster has claimed 392 lives, with Nepal authorities reporting 910 missing, including 288 Indian nationals.
A catastrophic flood across the Nepal-Tibet border has raised the death count to 392, with three fatalities reported in Tibet. Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority estimates 910 people are missing or out of contact, and the Indian Ministry of External Affairs says 288 Indian citizens are among those unaccounted for, including 73 hydropower workers at Trishuli-1 and numerous tourists heading to Mount Kailash.
Chinese authorities report 558 missing in Tibet, while about 200 Indians remain stranded there seeking assistance. Prime Minister Balendra Shah announced that 573 individuals have been rescued via 69 helicopter sorties, and additional military and private aircraft stand by. Temporary camps are providing food and medical care, but damaged roads and destroyed bridges continue to impede rescue operations.
